Fossung Multicultural and Education Services (FMAES) is a community-based charity supporting children, young people and families across Ipswich, Logan and surrounding communities. We work with migrant, refugee and culturally diverse communities to make education and community support more accessible.

We help children and young people build skills and confidence through education support and youth activities. We support wellbeing by creating welcoming spaces where people can form friendships, share their experiences and feel heard.

Our work also extends to families through digital skills, practical assistance, community programs and events. Working with local partners, we bring people together, respond to the needs they identify and help them feel connected to the communities around them.
Our Approach
At FMAES, we take a strengths-based, culturally responsive and inclusive approach to supporting children, young people and families. We recognise that every person brings their own experiences, abilities and aspirations, and that meaningful support begins with listening, understanding and treating people with dignity.

We work to create welcoming environments where people feel respected, safe and able to participate. Our approach considers the practical, social and cultural factors that can affect access to opportunities. We aim to respond with flexibility, remove barriers where we can and support people to make choices that are right for them.

Collaboration is central to our work. We build relationships with families, community members and partner organisations so that our efforts reflect local priorities and draw on shared knowledge. We welcome feedback and use what we learn to strengthen our programs.
